The Yemeni Republican Party has strongly condemned the deadly attack carried out on Thursday by the Iran-backed Houthi militia against Yemeni Armed Forces units in Al-Ruwaik, Marib Governorate, and Al-Abr, Hadramawt Governorate, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of several military officers and soldiers.
In an urgent statement, the party described the assault as a criminal escalation that once again demonstrates the Houthis' terrorist nature and their determination to undermine de-escalation efforts, prolong violence, and serve Iran's regional agenda at the expense of Yemen's security and stability.
The statement said the attack came in response to recent security and military successes achieved by the Yemeni Armed Forces and Emergency Forces, including disrupting smuggling routes, dismantling criminal cells, and securing key international roads, which significantly weakened the militia's operational capabilities.
The party reaffirmed its full support for the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and all military and security formations, particularly the Emergency Forces, urging them to continue decisive operations to eliminate sabotage networks and safeguard liberated areas.
The Republican Party also called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the internationally recognized government to move beyond condemnation and adopt a comprehensive deterrence strategy by raising combat readiness and advancing efforts to end the Houthi coup, stressing that lasting peace cannot be achieved with a group that exploits truces to launch further attacks.
Furthermore, the party urged the international community, the United Nations, and the UN Special Envoy to take concrete measures to designate the Houthi militia as an international terrorist organization and provide stronger support to the legitimate government in restoring state authority and ending the coup.
The statement concluded by affirming that the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers would strengthen the national resolve to restore the state, liberate Sana'a, and establish a state governed by law, while extending condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.
