National Coalition Praises Egypt’s Support for Saudi Security, Calls for Support for Yemen’s Legitimate Government

Aden – October 18, 2026

The National Coalition of Political Parties and Components in the Republic of Yemen praised Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s announcement that Egypt is prepared to participate in defending the security and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, describing it as a historic and responsible stance that embodies Arab solidarity in confronting Iranian threats and the Houthi terrorist militias.

In a statement, the coalition expressed its high appreciation for the Egyptian leadership’s fraternal position, which reflects the depth of relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and its recognition of the dangers posed by the Iran-backed Houthi rebellion against the Yemeni state and regional security.

The coalition declared its support for the Egyptian leadership’s decision to participate in defending the Kingdom’s security, amid Houthi attacks targeting Saudi civilians, civilian facilities, and infrastructure. It stressed that the Houthi militias serve as an Iranian instrument for expansion and aggression against Arab countries.

The statement noted that the Yemeni people have suffered for years under these militias’ practices, warning that their threats to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea endanger international peace and security and extend beyond Yemen and the region.

The National Coalition called on the Arab Republic of Egypt to use its regional weight and pivotal role to support Yemen’s legitimate government and assist it in confronting the Houthi threat, stressing that strengthening the Yemeni state’s capabilities is essential to protecting Arab national security.

The coalition underscored the importance of developing a unified Arab response to the Houthis’ aggressive conduct, warning that continued threats require responsible collective Arab action to safeguard shared interests and prevent serious harm to Arab national security.
