The Yemeni Republican Party strongly condemned the attacks targeting the Saudi oil tanker Odiyan and the Qatari tanker Al-Rukayat in the Strait of Hormuz, describing them as a renewed and dangerous escalation that threatens freedom of international navigation, regional security, and the stability of global energy supplies, in clear violation of international norms and principles governing the safety of maritime corridors.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 8, 2026, the party expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar and affirmed its support for all efforts aimed at protecting international shipping lanes and preserving regional security and stability. It stressed that the security of maritime passages is a collective responsibility that cannot tolerate reckless policies or the exploitation of tensions for narrow political gains.
The party stated that these attacks are part of a broader pattern of terrorism and piracy pursued by the Iranian regime in the Strait of Hormuz, alongside its reliance on armed militias, the spread of chaos, and the undermining of state sovereignty to expand its regional influence and impose realities by force outside the framework of international law.
The statement noted that Yemen has been one of the principal victims of the Iranian terrorist regime’s destabilizing policies through its continued support for the Houthi terrorist militia, which has overthrown state institutions, fueled war, and turned the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab into recurring hotspots threatening international navigation and trade. This, the party said, reflects the same project aimed at dismantling the nation-state and replacing it with the logic of militias and weapons.
The Yemeni Republican Party called on the international community to adopt a firm stance that deters the Iranian terrorist regime and puts an end to its destabilizing behavior, holding it fully accountable for the policies of chaos carried out through its armed proxies, in a manner that safeguards state sovereignty and preserves regional and international security.
