The Republican Party expressed deep concern in a statement issued on Friday over information and reports alleging the imposition of illegal deductions from the salaries of personnel serving in the Yemeni National Army across several frontlines, particularly in the governorates of Al-Jawf and Marib. The Party stressed that these allegations warrant an urgent, transparent, and impartial investigation.
The statement opened by paying tribute to the officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces, praising the immense sacrifices they continue to make in defense of the Republic. It affirmed that the military institution remains the cornerstone of efforts to restore the state and end the Houthi coup, particularly as preparations continue for the national battle aimed at liberating the capital, Sana'a.
According to the statement, the information received indicates that arbitrary salary deductions may have reached as much as 50 percent of the wages of some soldiers. The Party emphasized that it is treating these reports as serious allegations requiring official verification without prejudging the outcome of any investigation, given their potential impact on troop morale and operational readiness.
The Republican Party further stressed that any interference with the lawful financial entitlements of military personnel constitutes a violation of the rights of those who risk their lives in defense of the nation and the Republic. It underscored that combating corruption within state institutions is a battle that runs parallel to the struggle to restore the state, and that safeguarding the rights of members of the Armed Forces is both a constitutional and moral responsibility of the government.
The Party called on the Presidential Leadership Council, the Government, the Ministries of Defense and Finance, and the relevant oversight authorities to launch an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the salary disbursement process. It also urged the establishment of an independent and transparent investigative committee to publicly disclose its findings and hold accountable anyone found responsible for illegal deductions or other violations.
In addition, the Party called for the accelerated implementation of governance and institutional reform measures, including the modernization of salary payment mechanisms through official banking channels and the strengthening of digital oversight systems to ensure that military personnel receive their full financial entitlements while closing avenues for corruption and manipulation.
The Republican Party concluded by reaffirming that protecting the rights of the Yemeni soldier and ensuring a dignified life for service members and their families are essential to strengthening the home front, reinforcing state institutions, enhancing the operational readiness of the Armed Forces, and securing victory in the effort to restore the Republic.
