Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi held phone calls with PLC member Lieutenant General Tariq Saleh, member of the Supreme Military Committee Major General Youssef Al-Sharaji, Commander of the Fourth Military Region Major General Hamdi Shukri, and a number of military commanders to review the latest developments on the ground and the course of operations on the fronts in Taiz Governorate.
According to the official Saba News Agency, the calls addressed the level of combat readiness and the high morale of the forces amid the ongoing Houthi escalation, as well as the bravery, steadfastness, and ability demonstrated by the armed forces and other military formations in responding to developments on the ground and repelling Houthi attacks.
According to Saba, Al-Alimi stressed that the Houthi escalation would not alter the existing balance of power and deterrence, nor would it enable the militias to make any new gains on the ground. He underscored the need to continue confronting the coup, restoring state institutions, protecting the republican system, and achieving security and stability.
He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to a firm response to the Houthi escalation, stressing that the armed forces would continue to fulfill their constitutional duty to protect civilians, while maintaining the commitment to preventing further bloodshed among Yemenis.
Al-Alimi also directed, according to the agency, that the families of martyrs be cared for, that wounded and injured personnel receive full medical treatment and care, and that their rights and entitlements be honored. He called on tribal communities in areas under Houthi control not to allow their sons to be drawn into the battles waged by the militias.
The PLC Chairman warned against the Houthis’ continued recruitment and deployment of Yemenis into combat, saying that they are being used in service of the Iranian regime’s agenda and its destabilizing project in the region.
