Republican Party Chairman Mohammed Ahmed Juzailan congratulated the leadership, cadres, and members of the General People’s Congress (GPC) on the 44th anniversary of its founding, affirming the party’s longstanding national and political role in Yemen.
In a congratulatory message addressed to Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Shura Council Chairman Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, Parliament Speaker Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, and GPC leaders and members, Juzailan expressed his appreciation for the GPC’s role since its establishment on August 24, 1982, as a broad national framework that embraced political and social pluralism and contributed to maintaining national balance.
Juzailan highlighted the significance of the National Charter as a document of national consensus grounded in moderation and rejection of authoritarianism, extremism, and sectarian discrimination. He also praised the GPC’s role in building state institutions, promoting democratic practices, and safeguarding national gains.
He noted that the anniversary comes as Yemen faces existential challenges, foremost among them the Houthi militia’s terrorism, its systematic destruction of state institutions, and the continuation of its war with Iranian support.
Juzailan stressed that these challenges require greater unity and a broad national alignment among all political forces opposing the Houthi sectarian project and foreign dependency, emphasizing the convergence between the Republican Party’s political vision and that of forces supporting legitimacy and the restoration of the Yemeni state.
He expressed appreciation for the GPC’s role, alongside other national political forces, in supporting the legitimacy and the project of restoring the state and ending the Houthi coup, wishing Yemen a future of security, sovereignty, stability, and national unity.
